Comic Review: Ancient Astronauts

Published by Black Panel Press, written and illustrated by classically trained artist Vincent Pompetti, Ancient Astronauts is a Sci-Fi graphic novel that not only packs beautiful artwork, but weaves a compelling story across it's 168 pages.

The graphic novel follows Onys Di Chieti, a brave and daring young archer who resides on Plaine, a distrant planet similar to Earth, which has developed it's own solar system. After three men break into her home and brutally kill her sister, Allie, she narrowly escapes and is unwittingly thrust into a terrifying adventure. Joined by a shaman called Yulunga, and an experienced captain, Mark; Onys finds herself wrapped up in a fight against a mysterous presence, a being that seems to thrive on fear, and is threatening to destroy the planet.

Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash PS4 Review

Wet and wild or a damp squib?

Since this is a review of a Senran Kagura game, it's probably best to deal with the elephant in the room, the one wearing a tight wet bikini. Yeah, sorry for putting that image in your head, but the fact is that like all Senran Kagura games, Peach Beach Splash...or PBS for short, is a bit on the pervy side. The series started off as a side-scrolling beat' em up on 3DS and has transitioned into a 3D 1 v many fighting game. But the story has always revolved around teams of shinobi girls who have detailed jiggling physics, some skimpy costumes and wardrobe malfunctions galore. In some ways, the games a bit of an equality nightmare, because many have highly sexualised characters, but they also have a large cast of females, all of whom are strong and kick ass on a regular basis.

Maize PS4 Review

A-maize-ing or just plain corny?

Everyone likes a bit of weirdness in their lives, be it Monty Python, Dali paintings or one of those random sandwiches you might end up making when finances are tight....you know the ones with sugar puffs and brown sauce and feta cheese in.....no, just me? Well anyway, the point is that Maize is really very weird and that weirdness is by far it's strongest feature. If only the rest of the game had received as much attention as the surreal design choices.

Rabi-Ribi PS4 Review

The carrot or the stick?

I'm a little worried, as at some point in this mind nourishing review I'm going to have to explain the plot of Rabi-Ribi even though I don't quite fully understand it myself, but hey, let's have a crack at it, yeah. You're a rabbit...an actual factual rabbit who's been transformed into a bunny girl called Erina. Erina wakes up in a box in what seems to be a hospital, a short wander later and Erina is transported to a forest where she decides to hunt for her master, Rumi...initially unarmed she soon grabs a comedy style mallet and gains the friendship of Ribbon the fairy, the second playable aspect of this duo. Without spoiling too much you'll find out that rabbits are rare and sought after creatures (mostly by pretend rabbit girls), that there's another world and that your master's sister, Miru seems to be at the centre of the troubles.

Nidhogg 2 review

En Garde

The first question that most people will likely have about Nidhogg 2 is "What in the name of all that is holy IS a Nidhogg?"....well these people should probably use google a bit more really, but the answer to that question is a serpent/dragon from Norse mythology that nibbles on the roots of the world tree. In the world of Nidhogg 2 however it's a giant, grotesque worm that you must sacrifice yourself to. Reports that the design was based on Steve Bannon's true form have yet to be confirmed.
